In order to safeguard each child enrolled in this school, it is essential that certain requirements be met and there be full cooperation between the home and the school.
-
Each child must have a medical exam by a licensed physician by the first day of school. The medical form will be kept on file at school. Children’s enrollment and health information are needed by the first day of school for admission.
-
Each child must have had all of the immunizations required by State Statute for admission to school.
-
Upon arrival at school each day, each child will be given a simple health inspection by the teachers.
-
A child with any of the following symptoms will be isolated and discharged to his parent or guardian; 100 degree temperature accompanied by any other sign of illness, diarrhea, severe coughing, difficult or rapid breathing, yellowish skin or eyes, redness of the eyes, obvious discharge, matted eyelashes, burning or itching, untreated infected skin patches, unusual spots or rashes, unusually dark urine and/or gray or white stool, stiff neck with elevated temperature, evidence of untreated lice, scabies or other parasitic infestations, sore throat or difficulty in swallowing, or vomiting.
-
A child who displays any of the above symptoms should not be sent to school. If a child becomes ill at school, he or she will be isolated. Parents will be contacted to come and take the child home. It is very important that we have parent’s cell phone numbers on file for emergency contact. A child who has been ill may return to school when all symptoms are gone.
-
A communicable disease chart is posted at school on the door of the south east classroom.
-
All parents will be notified by letter or verbally at the car if the children have been exposed to a communicable disease.
-
No medication will be dispensed by the staff.
-
We will care for a mildly ill child, that is one who is experiencing mild cold symptoms or doesn’t feel well but isn’t exhibiting any of the symptoms specified above. A mildly ill child may be cared for in the child’s group, but will be carefully observed for signs of worsening condition.

The staff at All Saints use positive reinforcement as a discipline technique. The children become familiar with the rules at school and what type of behavior is expected. We find that focusing on the positive and appropriate behavior is a great deterrent to negative and inappropriate behavior. When a child behaves inappropriately, he or she is spoken to privately about the problem and possibly redirected to another area. In repeated cases, we give the child a time-out. When the child has regained self control, the teacher will discuss the problem with him and he may rejoin the group. We set reasonable limits and maintain them consistently. We do not allow abusive language, running, throwing, hitting, biting or other disruptive behavior. On no occasion does a teacher raise her voice or strike a child. Our discipline policy is restricted by rule 5101:2-12-22 of the Administrative Code and applies to all employees of the center.
